Shahar Ertracht
Shachar Ertracht has spent nearly his entire life around cattle. With several family members involved in dairy farming, his interest in livestock began at an early age and eventually led him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
His involvement in cattle research began during his university studies in 2001. After graduating from veterinary school, he went on to work as a clinical veterinarian working with farm animals, including both dairy and beef cattle.
Over the years, Shachar has gained extensive experience working with cattle producers and studying how different breeds and genetics can influence herd performance, health, and productivity.
Alongside his veterinary practice, Shachar operates CrossBreeding.co.il, a business focused on importing and distributing cattle semen to producers throughout Israel. His experience covers a wide range of dairy and beef breeds, including Norwegian Red, Brown Swiss, Holstein, Angus, Simmental, Charolais, Wagyu, Hereford, Limousin, and Blonde d'Aquitaine.
Through his work, Shachar has developed an interest in genetic options beyond the breeds traditionally available in Israel. His experience with both dairy and beef cattle has given him a broad understanding of different breeds and their potential applications in commercial cattle production.
Shachar has joined Bos Sires as a representative and distributor in Israel, adding to the range of cattle genetics he already offers through his business. One of his main interests in working with Bos Sires is the opportunity to introduce breeds and bloodlines that Israeli producers may not have access to through traditional semen suppliers.
