Klotz Farms is a Texas cattle operation built on decades of selecting functional Brahman and F1 cattle for real-world ranch conditions. Klotz Farms, located in Sealy, Texas, traces its breeding program back to 1975, when Joseph Klotz's father and grandfather began crossing Hereford and Red Brahman cattle. After entering the registered Brahman business in 1999, Joseph made several early attempts to build a breeding program before recognizing that many of the cattle he had purchased lacked the functional traits needed for long-term success. Those experiences led him to rebuild the herd around fertility, disposition, structural soundness, and performance under forage-based conditions.

Today, the operation focuses on Brahman and Golden Certified F1 cattle developed with minimal supplementation. Breeding females are expected to maintain themselves on pasture with only hay and mineral supplementation when needed, and selection is based on long-term productivity under commercial ranch conditions.

His bulls are developed under the same management as the cow herd. If they cannot perform under the same forage-based conditions as the cows they are expected to breed, they are not retained in the program.
